My complete packing list

Packing for the Camino can be overwhelming, because you want to be minimal, but you also want to have everything you need!

I watched countless of camino packing videos and read so many blog posts on how to pack for the Camino.

And this is the packing list I came up with for myself ( walking end of may to end of June )

*Everything linked all one place

Gear

  • 28 L Dueter backpack

    • This was my first hiking backpack! Deuter is known to be great for women as the strap across is comfortable. I really enjoyed the many different pockets it offered. When I was researching what size I should get the rule is ** per body weight.

  • Pair of cross trainers you love.

    • I think shoes are so personal so there isn’t one I will confidently recommend. I will say I don’t think you need hiking boots for the Frances route. I hear great things about Merryls and Oboz, I would recommend going to REI and trying them all on. Just be sure to get them a half size bigger!

    • I went with Hoka challengers, I wouldn’t wear these again. My new hiking shoes are Oboz. They have a boot cut and a lower cut, I like the lower cut for me.

Clothing

  • 3 pairs of socks
    • ( I enjoyed having a shorter and a longer pair)
  • 2 sports bras
  • 3 pairs underwear
  • 2 t-shirts
    • light weight, quick drying, merino wool is best for oder control.
  • 2 pair of shorts ( You can get away with one)
  • long pants
    • Some like leggings some don’t ( i brought one pair hiking paints and a pair of leggings. Might have been overkill- but it was nice to have extra layers sometimes.)
  • night outfit / pajamas
    • I LOVED having a light weight maxi dress as my outfit. It was easy to slip on after the shower.
  • Breathable long sleeve shirt
  • light fleece jacket
    • If there is one thing I would bring again and again- it was my 3 quarter zip pullover jacket.
  • buff
    • really nice for headbands and keeping sun off my neck.
  • water resistant jacket or rain poncho
    • I think whenever you walk you will come across some rainy days.

Toiletries

  • Bathroom oranizer

  • towel

  • Castille soap

  • basic cleanser

  • small tooth brush

  • sunscreen

  • moisturizer

  • shower shoes

Sleeping

What you pack for this really depends on what type of sleeping arrgments you plan on. If you plan to stay in hotels or private rooms in hostels- you wont need a pillow or sleepsacks.
  • Sleepsack
  • pillow

  • earplugs

Misc

  • Packing cubes

    • Highly recommend using packing cube to organize and maximize space

  • headphones

    • wired headphones will use less phone battery

  • electrolytes and any supplements

    • I’m a little extra. I really enjoy feeling my best and I am picky out ingredients in my electrolites so I brought my own. I also brought some AG1 packets because vegetables are kinda hard to find along the way.

  • Pee rag/toilet paper & ziploc to carry out

    • ya… I opted for the pee rag rather than toilet paper.

  • portable charger

    • a must

  • converter

  • journal & pen

  • tevas

    • can be used as your shower shoes
